Sarina
Ramirez-Ortiz is an emerging dance artist based in southern California. Her
work in the dance field is driven by a desire to foster safe, inclusive,
creative spaces for dancers to find their authenticity. As a Graduate
Opportunity fellow, Sarina is currently pursuing her Master of Fine Arts
degree in Dance at UC Irvine. She currently serves as a jazz Teaching
Associate this year within the UCI dance department. Sarina’s most recent
choreographic and improvisational work has been showcased in Rome, Italy,
Seattle, Washington, and throughout southern California.
Sarina received her Bachelor’s degree in Dance from Loyola Marymount
University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. Her dance studies include
many styles, both technical and physiological, such as modern, contemporary,
improvisation, ballet, jazz, kinesiology for dancers, choreography and
composition. Beyond the collegiate field, Sarina has gained additional
intensive work while at the Seattle Festival of Dance Improvisation as well
as the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance where she performed work by Ohad
Naharin and Alex Ketley. Sarina’s collective training and experiences fuel
her curiosity for creating art and providing a means for dancers to discover
their own expressive voices.
