Malia
grew up in Elk Grove, CA training with Elite Studio of Dance in Ballet,
Pointe, Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Tap, and Modern. She has danced with
Elite's competition team for ten years, and taught during her last three seasons
at the studio. She has received numerous scholarships and awards at
conventions like 24/7 Dance, NYCDA, Adrenaline and Hollywood Vibe. Malia
danced with her high school dance team Fusion Dance Company and became
assistant student director her junior year and co-director her senior year.
While training with Elite and Fusion, Malia co-founded a non-profit
organization that taught free ballet classes to kids in underprivileged areas
called Dancing Duo.
Malia has choreographed numerous routines for both Elite
Studio of Dance and Fusion Dance Company. She performed in both
company's annual recitals and Elite's Nutcracker Ballet. She has trained at
different summer intensives including Joffrey Ballet School and assisted with
Liberate Artists Dance Company. Malia trained with Lauren Froderman, Cheryl
Copeland, Trevor Takemoto, Alex Blitstein, Tre Holloway, Comfort Fedoke,
Melody Lacayanga, Alexa Anderson.
Malia is currently continuing her dance training and
performing as a dance major at UCI. She is very happy to be teaching at TDC!
